    Default Adding cover around dock

A year after building my dock, I finally tried to catch some sac au lait from it. Fishing with shiners the first night (last week), I caught 9, and kept 7. The biggest went about 13". After that night, I got the bug. I made a stake bed out of about 70 willow stakes in the area I fish off the end of the dock (10-14 FOW). I also hung a few willow bushes upside down under the corner of the dock. I had previously drove some PVC stakes and dumped some concrete under the dock about a year ago.

My question is would sinking leafy brush like wax myrtles among the stakes increase production or are the stakes sufficient? What else can I do to draw more fish to the dock?

I'm willing to do whatever work I need to make the dock produce the best it can, but I just don't want to go overboard and have a negative effect.

Love the illustration, docks are probably my favorite cover to fish.....they're a lot like real estate,....location,location, location,......it seems u have a good dock because of the depth at the end, and a nice descending slope.....sacs are picky about their docks, and it already looks like they like yours....

As for brush, I've heard from several guides at Toledo Bend, and they say willow tops are their favorite

Great drawing Mike, and an excellent job on setting up that environment.

Mike, are you in Oak Harbor?.....I had a lot in Oak Harbor and was going to retire there but before I built the house we decided to stay in Baton Rouge....I know those waters down there very well.....would always launch at Doirons by the car wash...after hurricane Gus I moved my fishing closer to home.....

    Again, welcome to the forum...

Man I would have loved to have #94. That's a prime spot in my opinion. I am on the same side a few lots closer to the highway

Yes it is a good lot....we bought it way back when the subdivision was in it's early growth.....there was a long narrow island straight across from it.....I caught many bass out of that canal....we know the Doiron's very well.....
