Eagle Lake, I use to love goose hunting over there. Is there a good crappie lake there too? I just stay here on Toledo Bend and really this and Rayburn are the only free water lakes I have fished since I was pretty young. I guess about when these two lakes spend up back in the late 1960's. Did some fantastic saltwater fishing down near Corpus for 10 to 11 years in the 1980's, but left there in 1991 and came back to these lakes.
Not sure about the crappie fishing right now as I have not been, but keep earring about big bass being caught, like over 10 pound size.

Are you talking about Eagle Mountain Lake? It is a good crappie lake too. I fish it directly across the lake from West Bay Marina. Some nice drop offs in that area.Originally Posted by Oldnewbie

I didn't know anything about that lake RetiredRR, heck that may one day make a good place for me to move. My kids and wife sure would like that. My kids live in and around DFW so have actually given a tiny bit of thought to moving some place near DFW, but nothing so far has made me want to, lol! T-Bend makes it hard to want to go any other place! However I am getting older and actually it would be nice to be closer to the kids and some of the grandkids.

Skip, there are some very nice smallies in Eagle Mountain Lake too. it is a relatively shallow lake, but has some structure,
docks and nice slabs. The bass fishing has produced bass over 10 lbs. Lots of nice homes built around the lake and
some nice docks too.

Well looking it up I also see they have the dreaded Zebra Mussel in that lake. I don't know anything about that little critter other than it's bad and seems they can't get rid of it either.
I would hate to see them get here, but if they don't figure a good way to get them out of our waters at some point they will be all over. Had a passing moment of thinking about selling here and moving to a lake like that so I would be close to my kids and grand kids, but think that lake has to be off my list even if it was the only one on the list so far, lol!
