    Default Southern Crappie rods

I bought a southern crappie rod and I loved it. They are strong, light and very reasonable. When I got it the rod tube was damaged. I checked the rod out and it seemed ok. Should have refused shipment but I didn't. Went fishing and the first fish I lifted into the boat it broke. I believe the rod was broken during shipment. I called Ed Dukes and told him the story and told him I wanted to buy another rod, the the break most likely occurred in shipping and it was my fault for not rejecting shipment. Ed would hear nothing of it. He said he would immediately replace it. I just wanted to let you know that he is a great person to deal with. From what I've seen and heard he makes a fine product and is a fine man. I would recommend him and his product to all you guys.

Bought 2 of his 14 ft. rods last year and have enjoyed them and had no problems with them at all.

Are the SCR's sensitive enough to detect light biters?

Thanks - looking to supplement my arsenal. I have four 12' B'n'M rods and several 6' ugly sticks but want to stretch my reach a little further from the boat.

Yes, he designed them to be fished with a 1/2 oz weight. With that they have just the right bend in the tip and detect bites very good. They are tough as nail to. Last week I got hung up not once but 4 times and not paying attention each time they were bent back to the side of my boat and pulled the rod holder loose before I could shut off troller. No damage what so ever.
