    Default Tillery hints?

In the process of moving near lake tillery. Started fishing it a little last week. Going again today. Pulled crandbaits last week. Knew wasn't going to do well on crappie. I heard tillery is almost all black crappie and the whites are usually the ones I catch on the crankbaits. Did pick up many white perch. Going to pull jigs today. Found the back of the coves in about 15 foot of water full of shad. Anybody catching any long lining jigs on tillery? Any info is appreciated.

The clearer it is the tighter to wood they are, I too love to longline but on tillery its usually not the best technique

I would second what Gobbler had to say. Long-lined jigs in the Methodist tournament a few weeks ago and had almost no luck. Tight-lined in the CCA tournament and ended up in 5th place.

Thanks guys. I have 8- 14 foot bmjps on the way. We will try tight-lining. Do you have much trouble keeping the perch off when you are tight lining there? Years ago, you could not drop a minnow or jig near the bottom without picking up a perch. Are you fishing near bottom or suspended?

We fished near the bottom and did catch some perch. Some guys near us were suspended and did quite well.

You should have bought 8-14' southern crappie rods, the fish know the difference

I won $180 at the CCA tournament on Tillery two weeks ago and it all went to Ed Duke for new rods. If I can get some more earnings one day, I'll be using all Southern Crappie rods.

Found a deal on these slightly used. Going to get a few 16 footers so may try the southern crappie. Do you guys run the sinker on the bottom with two jigs or hooks above or the sinker between the jigs/hooks. I have tried both and the one with the weight between seems to get tangled more.
