    Red face Lake Monroe, 10/24

Got off to a late start , but I made it to the ramp by 8 AM Monday morning. There were a good number of trailers in the parking lot still so I thought that I still night have a chance at getting a few specks. I launched and headed out into the lake. I spotted one boat straight out and a few over by the western edge. I turned the boat into the wind and made a run over to the old power plan, I swung inside of the signs and shut down. The wind was was blowing at a good clip, so I decided to see where it would take me. I set up for a drift.

I started to set out the rods, about half way through setting them out, one of the rods goes off! As I'm bring it in, a second rod bends over and starts to bounce. I boat the first fish, drop it on the deck and reach for the second rod. I get the fish to the side of the boat when she shakes her head, turns and takes off. I think I should have gotten the net out BEFORE I set out the rods. Oh well, next time.

The wind is moving me at a good clip and is taking me out towards the center of the lake. The other boats that I see are all inside of the sign line. BUT I am catching fish. I keep up the drift until the bite slows down then head back to make another pass. I do this 3 or 4 times then notice that it's almost 11 and time to call it a day. I turn the boat towards the ramp, take a fish count and decide to troll back to the ramp, hoping to pick up maybe one or two more on the way in. I like to keep only 12 fish per trip ( any more than that and I get tired of cleaning them) and I had 10 in the box. I like to head in around 11 so that I can be home in time for lunch.

I am working my way back towards the ramp just outside of the signs. I have had good luck out there. Today was no different, I rounded off my numbers, got my 12. so I pulled the rods and fired up the motor and got a chance to open it up and clean out the engine.

It was a great day on the water.

another good day at the office !
