Default skunked once again at Butla,,,

Man oh man,,, for the life of me I can't figure this lake out, I woke up this am thinking,,,, Cold front moved in last night,, winds are down,,,nice weather to go fishing ,,, right? So I call my buddy Dave and ask if he's ready to feel the thump and He agrees to head out with me to our favorite hell hole, Butla,,, Somwe get there alittle late, say 12 noon and see tons of boats out there...mEveryines fishing their own hole,,, Some fishing deep, some fishing the flats and some in the shallows,,, I watch the birds diving near the center of lake area off a small island and start to fish,,,,we fished and we fished,,, moved alittle and fished some more,,,Mwest shallow , went deep,,, still no bites whatsoever,,, sun started to get alittle hot around 3 pm so I look for some shaded areas with nothing to be found,,,mSo I fish another hour and decide to hang it up,,, 4 hours fishing and zero fish,,,,mean this sports getting expensive,,,money cost me this time $90 dollars after gas, for truck, boat and oil injector...bought some miners and a couple Gatorade and we were off,,,,,So much for fishing reports and fishing after a cold front moved in last night,,,, I recon it will be a few more days before they let all the water out of Butla and the water gets cool enough for remaining crappie to come out and eat,,, what cha all think? Am I doing something wrong here? spider rigging using teasers and fresh latrge miners,,, ought to bring out the best in a fish ,, right? OY Vey!

Tough bite I'd say. I jigged Enid today. Had 2 bites.

Like Slabbin said, Butla will humble the best fisherman. But don't give up, it's just a place you have to put in work to figure it out and when you do it will reward you with some of the biggest and best crappie you will find anywhere in the country.

I watched the weather reports thursday night and friday morning, before the front moved in. Stopped at Tadpole's for 3 dozen minnows while taking granddaughter to work friday morning. Launched my kayaks at Hernando Point. Paddled out to find 18' of water before dropping my long lines. Paddled and wind drift into 22' of water. First catch was a 9" cat. Cut a filet with skin and dropped a 3rd line. 6 keeper crappie from that one cut of cat. No keepers from the minnow rigs.

One good thing about it. If you keep on fishing Butla you're gonna get to where you're a pretty good writer.

I didn't see another boat Friday morning on Butla, or a kayak for that matter, must have missed you cane. One guy tight lining cats off the bank at Hernando point. Wind was blowing 11-13 mph when I left at 10am, 1' - 2' rollers out in open water. And don't give up takeum, if you just wanna catch go to Sardis or Enid they are a little easier. I'm still figuring Butla out, but enjoy the learning experience. Once you think you got her figured out, then she throws you a curveball.
