    Default Suggestions for Lakeland

Does anyone have any suggestions on a spot to hit where my 11 year old son and I can catch some crappie from Kayaks on this Saturday. This will be our first time out in the kayaks together crappie fishing. Would really love to make it a fun day for him to remember. I love to catch crappie and panfish and he likes to catch any fish.

Wish I had something to offer, I'm just getting started myself.

Take a walk through some of the tourney results over the years on lakes in your area. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/florida-crappie-club/
Not from that area so cant help much beyond that. I am sure Pescador, Fishin813, Yelim and several others from that area will chime in. OH and shoot a pm to Tundah if he dont respond. He lives in that area as well and fishes a kayak too. He probably shoot ya straight. Good Luck.

For kayaks I would check into some of the Pitts at tenoroc that arnt accessible by motorized vessels should have it pretty much to yourself and shouldn't be hard to find some fish

I agree with Bigslab11, the Tenoroc pits were made for Kayaks.

As has been said already, Tenoroc pits would be great for kayaks. If not familiar with phosphate pits, most banks have sharp drops to deep water. lots of structure submerged and unseen. A small jig tipped with a Crappie nibble close to structure will get you bluegills and Crappie also Largemouth Bass. They have numerous pits and different regulations for different pits. Be sure to follow their rules, Be mindful of Gators. They aren't aggressive but are there, just like most bodies of water in Florida. On some of the larger pits you can get lost. On Lake 5 there are two boat ramps. They have green signs posted throughout with an arrow pointed toward one of the ramps. I would start on one of the smaller pits. The Rangers there will be glad to get you started.

I'm pretty sure I'll be out there at Tenoroc Saturday morning myself.

Yelim is right, Lake 5 and some others are big and could easily get you turned around if you aren't direction savvy (or have a phone with Google maps).

If you find a culvert with water flowing out of it, have your boy throw a trick worm in junebug at it. Almost guaranteed to catch a bass that way.

Forgot to say put that jig under a cork. Vary depth to find the fish. Can also tip them with a minnow.

Lake 5 and Lake B have been best producers for me, but the fun at Teneroc is trying new waters since there are so many there and I personally think its the best scenery in the area

Agree with that. I lived here all my life and never fished Tenoroc until I met Pescador. I met him there once and wondered why haven't I been here long ago. Would take years to fish all the shore line in that place.
