Default You never know when or where therefore I always carry.

This morning Linda and I hooked up the boat to go fish Bayou Black's Turtle Bayou. Things started well until we ran into a tragedy. As we rounded a curve in the road in front of an old friend's house we could see blue lights flashing. When we got close we saw that there were 4 police vehicles on the side of the road in front of his house. Then as we passed directly in front, we saw him lying face down in his yard, he wasn't moving and no one was near him. There were too many cars along the highway for us to park with the boat so we instantly said prayers for him. At first I thought maybe he had be hit by a car as he was only about 20 feet from the highway. But then I noticed how peaceful he lay, with his head resting on his arm to keep his head off of the grass. I then thought of a heart attack because he did have issues. Around noon I got the news that he had been shot, how sad. A 87 year old with no wife or kids just living a good quiet life in his little camp on the bayouside not too far from where he was raised as a kid. He and his brothers were great childhood friends of my Father in Law and were also friends of ours. What a terrible way to reach the end of one's life, at the hands of a criminal for just a few dollars. May Dale rest in peace and the Good Lord give him his just reward. I won't pass judgement on the criminal but will leave that up to God for if it were up to me I'd take him apart limb by limb.

Oh Gene, I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I've never understood how people can do that to each other. In fact, just a little while ago my wife was reading something about 3 shootings today in Shreveport within 20 minutes of each other...still not clear on what happened.

I still believe that we reap what we sow, and the guilty will get what they've earned in the end.

Staying prepared is better than having to get prepared. I know what you mean for sure. Hard to understand the mentality of anyone that would do something like this
to anyone. Friends are hard to replace and when we lose one, it hurts deeply. Prayers for apprehension and justice and peace of mind. Prayers are with you.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Unfortunately Satan is alive and well in our world. Praying for the family.

This is so sad. I'm very sorry for what your friend must have gone through and for you and Linda as well. As for revenge, we must leave that to the Lord. He's so much better at it than we are.

Terribly sorry to hear. My thoughts echo other's. There's so many words of mixed emotions on senseless murders like this that I don't know where to begin, so instead I'll say a prayer for him, y'all, and all of the loved ones in his life. It's news like this that helps me justify my point to others on why I carry. If I have any say so, I'm not leaving this world at some thug's hands if I have a choice, and I choose to better my odds at not being a victim. Will it matter if that should come my way? Maybe. Maybe not, but you can believe you better blind side me if you come with evil intent. I pray I never have to be faced with that situation.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, unless you fish for a living.
