Jerry and I blasted off at daybreak this morning. We fished Chickamauga Lake. Fishing with a single pole rigged with Bobby Garland Baby Shad on a 1/32 oz. jig.

We caught 27 with 24 keeper size Crappie by 10:00 am. Then it took until lunch to get the remaining 6 keepers to limit us out.

The best color for me was the Mo Glo Blue Ghost with a Chartreuse tail light.

Good times. The water had dropped in temperature about 10 degrees from last week. Fishing should only get better as the water temp. drops!

Life is good. Fishing is better.

    For Nutbush
    TN River/Kentucky Lake fishin report

Well I got up to Mermaid Marina Saturday morning around 10:00. The wind had to have been blowing 15 or so. I got out to about half way of the river and I immediately turned around and went back into the cove. Waited till Sunday and went out as the wind wasn't as bad. I went across the river to some kind of cove and fished a couple of hours. Water was about 3-5 foot deep. I slip corked minners for a few. Caught a few shorts around the stake beds. I caught a couple on a Bobby Garland baby shad in I think Blue Ice color. Left there went back to the Mermaid. Fished around the boat docks and a few stake beds. I was tipping the Baby Shad jigs with minners and managed one keeper, and a decent bass. Fished Monday morning till about 10:00. Put out the spider rig with an assortment of Bobby Garland baby shad jigs, had a couple of hair jigs, and a yellow and white tube jigs all tipped with minners. Managed 3 keepers for about 3 hours of fishing. I did go to the Lower Lick Creek and fished around the mouth, as to the rest is pretty much unfishable because of shallow water. Got no bites. Ended the weekend with 4 keepers and one bass. Oh the wife and I did go to a small lake Friday and managed one nice 14" on a white crappie magnet tipped with a minner. I believe with the low water and the clarity of it the slip corking a minnow with a pink Zebco 33 was the best combo for the weekend.

Friday Night, Oct 7th, on the Chick

    For txbomb

Got to go out on the Chick Friday night for a couple of hours and try new Motorguide Xi5. What a blessing to have that on the front of the boat. Anyway, fished a brush pile in about 22 foot of water with light. Caught all on minnows, caught about 25-30 in 2.5 hours and kept 15. It was fun and it was so pleasant.

    Report: Chickamauga Lake crappie 10/12/2016

I took my best crappie student out this morning for a 1/2 day fishing trip. First time out for her in quite a long time. She was a little rusty at first, but came on later and did her usual outfish the teacher thing. Grin. I love it. She caught the most fish, but I did have big fish honors today.

We just checked one off shore structure this AM and she ended up catching a blue catfish that I took home for dinner. She hooked up another one, but it pulled off after a 30 second fight. Then we hit the creeks and docks for crappie. We fished deep docks early and found the fish smack dab on the bottom. It was slow fishing for quite a while.

Then we went to docks that were a little more shallow and did really well. We caught several keepers that went home with me to be relocated in Crisco Lake. Or Amana freezer lake. Grin. I think that we are going to do fish for dinner tonight. Yummy. Dinner at 7. If you come, bring a dessert. LOL

We fished with Bass Assassin lures today. The productive colors were 2" Bluegrass, S&P Phantom w/chartreuse tail, Electric Chicken Little Dumpling. We caught a little rock bass, 2 yellow bass, and a few short crappie today as well. The wind went from calm to about 7 mph and then back to calm by the time we stopped fishing. Water temp was 71.2 degrees. The lake is about 2 feet below summer pool.

It was a good day to be out on the water. Candi needed the R&R and she came away refreshed in spirit, mind and body after our trip. Yea!

Tried fishing the Little River off of Fort Loudoun. Water temp was 72, and the first (and last) stop was a favorite brush pile for late fall and winter. Water is 15-20 feet, and caught this guy hugging the bottom. Decided to head to the main channel after about 15 minutes, and the motor wouldn't crank. Dead battery, so a 3 mile troll back to the dock!Name: IMG_0598.jpg
