Default Bass Pro Shop Buying Cabelas

This won't effect you smart guys that make your own crappie jigs (see what I did there?), but, how this effects the rest of us remains to be seen.

Bass Pro Shops is buying Cabela's for $5.5 billion - Oct. 3, 2016

I do all my boat part/outdoor shopping at academy. The same items for about 1/4 less. Bass pro price gouges only because they feel they can!

I prefer to buy online. I go to Bass Pro for availability, which is seldom. Our BP in Cary is very small. The Cabelas in Garner is a beautiful store with prices to match. I feel like I'm mall shopping, with a premium price based on the "atmosphere" instead of product quality. Internet shopping is supreme, in my opinion.

All that said, I hate to see these stores combine. More different is better.

We just got a new Academy in Fayetteville. I have tried to shop with them but they don't have the product I need. It seems to be a camping and hiking center not a fishing store. Just my 2 cents.

And good for you. Your money wasn't defective, but their boat was.
