I trolled crankbaits for a few hours on Friday and wound up with 4 catfish and 1 crappie - not great. On Saturday i put away the trolling gear and broke out the spinning rod and jigs - glad I did. I found them along rocky bluff walls and bluff ends in pretty shallow water, I'm talking as shallow as 2ft. The key was finding deeper water nearby. The boat was normally in about 12-15 feet and I was casting towards the bank, just like spring. The were scattered so it took me about 3 hours to get these. I was fishing the mid-lake area. I didn't remember to hold my phone sideways, sorry about the rotation.

That's great that you found the pattern, congrats on some nice fish.
Way to stay with it.
Sounds like LOZ has been nothin' but dinks for most people. Glad you had some success and chose to share it out here. Good report and pics.
Those look like some good ones! I've been finding fish, but ---- in the last few weeks, I think I've only caught 3 or 4 over 10" and 1 over 11". Didn't try your pattern, though fishing near the bluff ends on brush in about 12-20' deep. Lots of 8's and 9's. Water temp seemed to have dropped 8-10 degrees in the last week.
Yeap, during the fall on the Grand they are usually on those bluffs and shallow water, along with the catfish as well. Shad run up there and get boxed in by the fish almost. Might try coming off the bluff and finding some isolated cover like root balls or small trees that are all over the area to find those lager fish. Good job on the catch!
