There are a few options. Falcon makes an awesome Rod. Their 6' Bucoo in light action is a great Rod. It's sensitive, light, and has enough backbone to fight and land big catfish which I have done (26 lb). They are made right here in Broken Arrow Oklahoma and I own and use 5 of these.

Huckabee is coming out with a 7' model and should be here now or in the next few weeks (I haven't had the opportunity to try this Rod yet but have been told I would), but in my opinion from using all the Huckabee Rods with great success they will be Top Of The Line Rods. I can't wait to get my fingers on a couple. As soon as I do you will see a post that they are available. I can't post recommendations since I'm on the Pro Staff. You can call anytime afterwards and I will be glad to tell you what I know and my opinion.

Now as far as the High Standard Rods they have gone out of business as far as I know. I have 6 of them and they are awesome rods.......Ranger

I'll second the recommendation on the Falcon BuCoo. They are superb rods (IMO). I have the 6' light, a BuCoo 6'9" drop shot, a LowRider 6'9" drop shot, and a BuCoo casting 6'9" drop shot. They all make great Crappie rods and I use them for cast&drag, drop shot minnows, pitching and casting to the bank. I'm sold on Falcon. In fact, I recently picked up two Falcon 12' mdm action rods for spider rigging. If I like them I'm gonna get two more. The only one I do not recommend is the 5' UL. It's too wimpy for anything but vertical jigging tiny lures in an enclosed fishing dock. The rods are a little pricey but they are made right here in Oklahoma. I've used them for years and have never had a problem. I should note, as most other brands, braid is not covered in their warranty.

Thanks for the replies. I contacted Ken and he said Huckabee rods will be out soon. Looking forward to trying them out.

I'd recommend a light mono on a cast and drag and not braid.
