Good job guys. Didn't realize the Perch Jerk we entered was on the same day as this event. The way it turned out, I wish we had fished this one.

Well, the tourney is in the books, a great turn out, beautiful weather, and a tough bite pretty much summed up the day. I would like to pass on my many thanks to all whom put this event together. For a first time event, it was handled quite professionally. Congrats to all the winners, especially the Shriners hospital. It was nice seeing and speaking to the many Crappie.com members who participated. S town Crappie King with his partner uncle were the top C.C team placing third, and having big fish. Way to go guys! Brush fishing was the dominate technique, with all three top placing teams fishing deep brush.

We fished the tournament and had a problem there with the rules. The rules said you were limited to 8 rods per boat which to me you could only have 8 rods in your boat. Not being a tournament fisherman that is the way I saw it so when we left home I took all my rods out of the boat. The way the rules should read is you can only have 8 rods in the water but unlimited in your boat. My jigging rods and pulling rods and dock shooting rods stayed home. Made it even worse when we were tight lining around one bridge and watched one boat catch around 30 to 40 fish jigging around the piling so. We told one of our members where to fish and he wound up catching 6 crappie. Still a little peeped off about it.
Just wasn't our day was it Don?![]()

Great to see everyone today. It was one of the hardest days of crappie fishing I had in a long time. Like Don I took only 8 rods and ended the day with my tail kicked.
It's great to see a big turn out and congrats to the winners and like Tim said it is great to see the turn out to help the Shriners.
Thanks to the ones that put this event together and it was good to meet all the new guys that I was blessed to meet today.

Yes it was a tough day, but I had a great time anyway. Met a lot of CdC members and a lot of other fine folks.
Great turn out for a first event and it can only get better as the next years come.
Special Thanks to Sinkermaker and his wife for a room last night and for letting an Ole Gastonia boy tag along with him in the tournament.
Congrats to the winners and specially to the Kids of the Shriners Hospital.
Looking forward to next year!!!
Thank a Veteran every chance you get.Inkdabber LIKED above post
I know it doesn't change the perception of some, but Tommy and I usually make a game plan and bring only the equipment needed for the technique we choose. We haven't fished Greenwood in two years. As it turned out, we were limited to two practice days. Tommy went solo last Saturday and tight lined. He found the fishing really tough, but caught around a dozen crappie with one weighing 1.5 lbs. I was able to get out on the lake yesterday (Friday) I chose to long line troll. I caught 28 crappie. The fish were tight to structure, and area. Using the info we gathered during practice, we chose to tightline. We had a couple of brush located, and thought it best if we stayed near the areas, (brush) we located and soak baits in lieu of running around searching. It paid off, not in a win, not even a check, just a decent finish. We finished 8th out of 38 boats. Not great, but around 20 boats zeroed. That means we put the right rods, and used the right technique after processing what information we gathered during practice. We don't have brush in Greenwood, we knew brush fishing was going to be the winning technique as the fish were definitely relating to wood. So we feel our finish is a moral victory. We figured out the pattern, but lacked the resources to compete for the top spots. The moral of this story is we only had 8 rods in our boat too. They just so happened to be the right ones for the method we chose to employ after strategizing after comparing notes from practice.

Having the right rods makes the catching easier but with today's tough conditions the rods wasn't what it took to put fish in the boat but having and using the right skills.
Would have loved to been able to per fish but wasn't and made the wrong moves to put fish in the boat with the tools we had today. Catching fish comes down to using what you have to make it work and I think everyone that put fish in their boats were winners today.
Days like today makes you enjoy the good days, been a long time not putting even one crappie in my boat but today I learned again what that feels likeA safe trip and sharing time on the water with friends makes me feel like a winner along with all the others today.
It I always easy to say I should have did this after the fact but it is about putting a good plan to use the day of. Congrats all

it was a very enjoyable day today to see old friends and meeting new !!! we had a game plan and stuck to it and it did not produce the way plan that's why its called fishing and not catching!!! like I told my partner today crappie fishing is a lot like golf very humbling at times !!!! but I look at it this way we all were winners, we fished for a good cause and everyone made back in safe !!!

I will agree with what was said about the fellowship and benefiting the Shriners hospital. I enjoyed the tournament and getting to meet new friends. My point was the we are not tournament fishermen. This was our first. We did not have a game plan so to speak and are not jig fishermen. It would have been nice to been able to change technique to one that we saw was producing. I will fish the tournament as long as I am able to and will be better prepared next year. My hats off to those who put on the tournament and hopefully they raised a lot of money for the kids.
