I always take it out of the can and rinse it in water before fishing. Otherwise, your hands will get sticky.

A lot of pay lakes and clubs won't let you use it. Say the fish can't digest it , they get bloated and die. Especially trout!!!

You can bait a hole with it by just punching some holes in a can with a screwdriver....tie a string on it and throw it in...pull it in when you are done. I never used it for crappie though. When I was younger I worked at a grainery on the Mississippi. The belt that carried the grain out to the barges would lose some grain especially when it was real windy. We usually had a flat top barge tied off to the pilings to move the grain barge out deep enough to load it to 9ft. We would sweep the grain off into the water and then fish at lunch and after work. Would just waylay the catfish. Never saw any belly up from eating too much corn, wheat or milo.

I've only used it in streams or at Laurel Lake for Trout. A crawler tipped with several kernels works well in deep water at Laurel.
