Default Skirt material, Rubber or Silicone??

I live in Florida so water temps don't get super cold. Would you suggest using Rubber or Silicone skirt material for some teaser jigs?

Silicone. Have made some out of rubber and they don't last long in the tackle box. They stick together and deteriating pretty fast. Here is a good place to buy skirt material.

Silicone for me, the rubber will go bad even if you don't use it. It's a better option for sure!

I have some old jigs made by Blue Fox and I do not know what kind of material they used for the tail, but wish I did as it's good stuff. I suspect it's some kind of silicone, but link of crinkled, hard to describe. I still have a bunch of these jigs, just still don't know what that is. The entire jig is probably no more than 1 inch long and I could measure it if I didn't keep loosing the box in this room, lol! Anyway it was simple, Nickel Plated head and Red Thread neck style with that stuff for fringe type tail. These worked very well even trolling like I do.

Silicone if you're just looking at the two. Don't be afraid of other stuff just because you live in Florida.

Couldn't agree more lowe175, heck try kip tail, marabou, hackle or most anything that gives what you want, a bite!

    Thanks guys!

I have used feathers, kip tail, flash and even plain old yarn. Got a little time, so thought I would try something different.

Hey here is a good site to look at silicone skirt materials and they have some rubber as well if you want some. On this page just start looking on the left index at Barbed Wire and below. Above that is for other things of which most you may not have any interests in?? Skirt Making Material

silicone - you can keep the old rubber skirts from sticking if you put talcum powder on them but make sure it's an air tight bag.

20watt that is nice tie and I know these work! I tied some. I even put them on my site, but not many wanted them I guess. I also tied some that had both hackle and Silicone skirt material. Both ways seem to work and actually the Silicone material adds a little bulk!
