    Default Brush piles

I was wondering about where to put some brush piles. Do you primarily put brush tops where you are catching some fish already to make it better or do you put brush piles in other areas where you would like to catch fish? If you are starting out putting brush out for the first time is it better to put a lot of brush in one area or a little in several areas and cont adding as you can? I've been catching enough crappie for a mess. No limits yet but I'm trying to learn about fall fishing. I could see less deer hunting in the future. Lol
Thanks Rammer1961 thanked you for this post

It depends on water , depth and such . I prefer contour lines / drop offs . It can help to pick spots with little or no cover but don't over look adding a big stump . I rather have lots of small piles than one big one .

Thanks. The lake is primarily shallow. The deeper water is a sleugh that runs thru the middle and around the levi. Deep is about ten feet in these areas. Lake is mostly dead timber about six feet or less. A lot of it is four foot or less.

If your lake is a dead timber reservoir, you already have an abundance of structure. I've got my doubts that adding
    more will help you much.

I figured some of the guys putting cover in Conway would comment . AGFC has been adding cover to the lakes they own and many are referred to as stumpy .

Who would bother putting brush piles in Conway? I would & do. I put out brush on Conway back in December & added more here & there. I think I have about 16 out there now. Not all produce fish but several have produced multiple fish just about every time I have fished them. If it were not for those brush piles I would have come home with way less fish this summer.

hehehehe, been checking you out every time you put in at Adams and know all your pile coordinates. If you can't catch any when you go, it's cause I caught em bout 30 minutes before you got there. P
