Those appear to be mostly white crappie. Do you find you catch more whites than blacks trolling? If so, why?

Really can't answer that because the Saline-Larto complex has a majority White Crappie population. I have yet to troll on a body of water that has a large population of Black Crappie to compare.

I tend to find that I only catch more black than white crappies when I fish in marshes. If I am fishing a lake, I tend to catch more whites than blacks, I would say 10 to 1 ratio.

seems like whites relate to structure but just like to be near it, not in it...blacks....you catch in structure...unless you're TGE(theygotoeat)...and then you catch either using the same technique......

My crappie fishing is mostly limited to Larto and Toledo Bend. My catch ratio on Larto is 10:1 whites to black. It's just the opposite on Toledo Bend 10:1 blacks to white. The way I have understood it from what I have read in articles is that whites prefer moving water, river systems, bayous and old river bottoms. Blacks are more prominent in static systems such as lakes, reservoirs and backwaters (swamps).
