Put carpet on with staples ......just cover top and sides and ends....that way the boards can dry out better

Jim, another word of caution. You can get those polypropylene boards and use them for runners and they work good but the caviate to that is usually they need a extra support in the middle because they are not as rigid and they are slick. If you use them, never ever undue the strap until boat is in the water.
Like G said just staple no glue on regular boards so they can dry faster.

I asked the guys at counce marine in Memphis about treated wood reacting with aluminum when I bought bunk carpet from them. According to them that's all they replace bunks with.

All I have ever used is treated. Never had a problem and I have one aluminum duck boat that has been on same trailer for 26 years. And I dont bother putting carpet on them cause all I do is rip it off with boat when it freezes

The chemicals that they use for pressure treating wood nowdays contains copper........google it.........copper and aluminum dont go good together.

What G is saying is fact. One of my truck leasing customers before I retired is in the business of making the chemical used for treating wood. Used to use arsenic, law stopped that so now they have a couple of other chemicals and it is loaded with powdered copper which is bad corrosive to aluminum.

Could you paint the top side of the treated bunk board before you carpet it?
