Hello from the Ozarks. My family is planning a Xmas down in New Orleans (I've never been) and of course my first thought is a day of fishing. I was hoping I could get some suggestions on guides out of New Orleans and how the fishing is, typically in the winter down there.
Thanks in advance.

Not the guy I was thinking of, he's originally from Shreveport.
Are you looking for fresh water or salt water fishing. We have the best of both here.

Thanks for the replies. I'd assume salt water would be the way to go. I've seen a lot about red fish and look fun to catch (not sure about eating).
Here is a very good guide out of Houma which is 60 miles southwest of New Orleans.

Check out some of the links to charter captains on Don Dubuc's site. He has a weekly radio show out of New Orleans and is a super nice guy. Great source.
I have seen programs filmed in South La as well --- Charters out of Venice La are the Rage for those coming from the Northern areas -- there are size Restrictions and limits .. I did catch a few Redfish when working offshore but the sharks got most of my better fish from around the oil Platforms , a lot of guides fish the area between the river and the Gulf.... With all the Canals out in the marsh it makes one wonder how they ever find their way back If fishing offshore the Tide is important to know as well..
