So many great options. I live outside of Benton and can be on the best lakes from Degrey to Dardanelle within an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes. Arkansas has its high points and low points but the high points greatly overshadow the lows.

    Great Question...there are three spots
#1 West Central ARK, Big D, Nimrod, Conway, Atkins, Overcup, Ar River, Harris Brake, Greers Ferry, Peckerwood, Des Ark, Maumelle, Clear, Tulls, Beaverfork, Blue Mnt, Maumelle Lil Maumelle rivers, White river, and many many more smaller public access lakes and oxbows.

#2Hot Springs area, Greeson, Ouchita, Hamilton, Catherine, Degray, Millwood, Saline and Ouchita rivers and not that far from most in #1's list

#3 North west central, Beaver Bull Shoals, and Norfork along with the southern Mo Impoundments, with all the Cold and warm waters world class mountian streams to boot.

Man When you Move to Arkansas, especially central AR, you are with in a 4-6 hour drive of The best crappie fishing in the world North, South, east, and west. Many AR anglers always talk about those Big four in MS, but don't forget about those great lakes in eastern TX, OK and North LA also.

My vote would be Morrilton. You are 5 minutes to an hour from Lakes Overcup, Harris Break, Conway, Atkins, Brewer, Nimrod, Dardanelle, Greers Ferry, Maumelle, Winona; Ouachita and probably some I'm leaving out, not to mention the Arkansas, Fourche LeFave, South Fork, and Middle Fork Rivers, Illinois Bayou, Cadron Creek and no doubt a number of other creeks.

My choice would be Heber Springs

Love the fact that Arkansas has such an abundant source of fishing and hunting,,,,Might be my resting place come my later years,,,a few more years my house will be paid in full, and will be time to sell and buy elsewhere...I'm hoping the wife will see Conway or maybe still Rogers area,,, But only time will tell,,,, we have grandkids in Rogers and Woukd live to be closer to taken fishing when they get old enough,,,

Spring River has Walleye , Smallmouth Bass , Catfish and Trout , bet the South fork has everything but the Trout . Most of the streams up that way also have Rock Bass and several other panfish too .

Yes, the South Fork of the Spring River has some fish in it. Where is arkansas's best place to live for fishing? I have caught quite a few walleye and smallmouth near the confluence with the Spring River.
