Ok, I thought you were adding a second unit. Bigger is always better for side image.

rnvinc, thanks for the breakdown comparing the two units. Looks like the Helix9 is the way to go. Thanks again.

Yep .... If you get the Helix 9, do the transducer swap for the HDSI transducer to get the most out of the unit .... Otherwise, you could step up to the Helix 10. There are some really good sales going on right now, so make some calls to find the best deal.....I'd call Brian at BBG marine first.

If you really wanted to go big and get chirp, I saw the Helix 12 SI on sale for $1849 .... Humminbird has dropped the MAP on several of the Helix models and dealers are also trying to clear inventory this time of year.

Interestingly the HELIX 9 and HELIX 10 have the same size cabinet ... there's just more usable screen image size in the HELIX 10 ...

I have always been a Lowrance guy. Had the HDS series on a bass boat and the Elite series on a jon boat. I just recently purchased a new unit for another Jon boat and i went with Garmin and i tell you i am really impressed with the Images, it has better side images and down images than the HDS in my opinion. I got the Striker 73SV to go on the bow because I already had a unit with GPS on the console.

If you might add 360 later, you will need network capability.
