Default Flint River Report August 23rd

I fished the mouth of the Flint River and up to about a mile back in it yesterday evening. Water was relatively clear at the mouth and VERY stained a mile in it. I was actually looking for bass but I had to bring a couple ultra lights in case. No bass were caught fishing a drop shot or a shaky head with a speed craw. Fished some 1/16th oz Bobby Garlands and small twister tails with only managing a few small stripe. No crappies were harmed in this adventure .

I did notice A LOT of scattered bait on the surface and in the main channels in 20FOW with the bait suspended to 15 FOW. I couldnt get anything to hit my dropshot or a crappie jig. An occasional small stripe would bust at the surface. I even went to check out my brush piles I marked last year and caught several crappie on. The brush piles seemed to have vanished?

Ill wait another month or longer before I try there again. Maybe you Spider Rigging folks could have some luck out there?
