Pymatuning lake summer crappies

Sunday was a fantastic day on the lake. Could have filled the cooler with all kinds and sizes of panfish. Caught crappies, gills, perch, and rockbass all in the same areas and was off the lake by one. Plastics caught them all.

Good job Chaunc, was up there by the lake, but was at a church picnic. We didn't even see one boat on the water while there.

Sounds good. Hoping for some good fall fishing. Didn't get much done this spring and summer. Nice bunch of fish. How is the water level??

Down a little but not bad. Still plenty of water over the sandbars.

Although I now reside in Florida, I still spend much of the summer thru the fall hunting seasons at our camp in Cameron co,
I have a 12' Grumman on a trailer with a 6 hp outboard and an electric on the bow.
My question is would I be best to stay away from this lake, or are there places I could safely fish with my boat and be in good locations?
If so could you offer some locations. Id probably be making a several day trip out of it due to distance.
Would the Allegany res. be a better choice for me considering my boat?

Not familiar with the Allegany area. Pymy has lots of bays you can safely fish from your boat. Just pick an area of the lake you'll be staying at, and check the map we have posted here.

One other thing to consider, is that Pymy is the biggest lake in Penna. So you want to launch in the same area you want to fish, so that if a storm would come up, you can get off the lake quickly. There are quite a few launches there. The lake is now 20hp limit, just for that reason.

I am getting old and don't like fishing in the wind. My guidelines for Pymy are wind out of the west under 7MPH.I fish out of Jamestown launch and stay on the west shore in the southern half. There are some nice coves and shoreline the fish there. There are some really nice days I will venture to the stump field up north but not many. The good launch up there is closed until next summer I believe. A little west of Jamestown, almost to the Ohio line there is a small undeveloped launch back in a really protected cove/bay area that would be great for your rig. Good luck, have a great day fishing.
