A good snap shot of a time we all cherished. When I would get the new Field and Stream magazine I would always go straight to the section "This Happened to Me" first. You may remember that section. It was about people that survived a tragedy while out on the water or in the woods.
You are right PawPaw Gene when saying that the stories must continue. We need to share some of our stories at our gatherings.

You are right Chris, the stories must go on, the old ones and the new ones, and we must be the torch bearers.

OH, and congrats on your retirement, it will seem strange for a while but that will pass. You and Donna enjoy it now, as later you will be to old and decrepit to do anything. It just been 3 1/2 years since I retired. The first year or two were great but then I hit 71 and what a difference that made. Not the age, but the health issues and medications. Mostly the meds have slowed me down and zapped a lot of my strengths. So don't wait, start enjoying yourself now.

Chris, as someone who has fished with you regularly, I know why you went straight to those stories in Field and Stream!

Dwayne, sounds like you have a comic sidekick.

    Roy Rogers had Pat Brady
    Cisco Kid had Pancho
Gene Autry had Frog (Smiley Burnette)
Boss Hog had Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane

And you Dwayne picked the very best, Deacon. Love ya Chris.

Pawpaw, it is always an adventure when the 2 of us get together! I have to say he keeps me smiling! Just wish I could convince him we need to keep some of those fish he keeps throwing back, the ones from Darbonne a few years ago come to mind!

At the next gathering remind me to tell you about the two times I went to Darbone to tent camp and forgot to bring my tent both times. "This Happened to Me". You talk about survival.

I think I heard a little about it, something about sleeping in the truck.
