    Default Taylorsville night trip 8/12

We got to the ramp around 8:45 and to my surprise only had to wait for 5 minutes to launch the boat. I no sooner than I got in the water and here came the armada back to the ramp. We got anchored up by 9:30. Dropped the lights and got settled in. The boat traffic did not slow down until 10:30. After about an hour I was starting to wonder where the bait fish was only had a few swimming around the light. Was thinking that I need to move but when I turn on the HB it was a solid mass starting at 5 ft down. The first one was a 13 inches and we picked it up around 10:45. I thought it was fixing to get good. Well the caching was good just the size was not. It was non stop for 2 hours. We used 1/2 lb of minnows by 12:30. Most of the fish that we picked up was 12 feet down only a few any shallower than that. All in all a great way to spend the night.

Good job. Glad to see another Tville report.
The secret to fishing? Fish where the fish are.

Thanks for the report, Kenja ... sounds like the fish are holding right above the thermocline in that area. According to this : Louisville District > Missions > Civil Works > Water Information > Updated Lake Temperatures and Dissolved Oxygen Lev > Taylorsville Profile ... there's not much oxygen below 5ft deep at the dam, so I would expect there wouldn't be much oxygen below the 10ft depth range up the lake from there.

I was fishing on a the edge of a flat that was about15 deep with no thermocline but just as it dropped off in to 20+ feet you could see it around 15 feet.
