    Default D'Arbonne Drawdown

UNION PARISH (LDWF News Release) - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has announced a drawdown for Bayou D’Arbonne Lake in Union Parish. The drawdown is scheduled to begin on September 6th and continue through November 15th, 2016. The lake will be lowered to a level of 5 feet below pool stage at a rate of approximately 4 inches per day.
The LDWF action is taken in coordination with the Bayou D’Arbonne Lake Watershed District to allow for maintenance of shoreline properties and to provide control of nuisance aquatic vegetation. The Bayou D’ Arbonne Lake Commission adopted a policy in 2004 that provides for drawdowns every 4 years for these purposes. The lake will not be closed to fishing during the drawdown, but caution is advised for boaters during the low water period as boat lanes will not provide normal clearance for underwater obstructions.
I fish 7 days a week; some days for fish, everyday for men.

Thx for the update. I remember the last time it was down, and couldn't believe the number of stumps in that lake. Sure made it easier to target cover areas though. Maybe we'll catch well for the gathering in Nov.

I sure hope they do something with the washouts at the ends of the ramps where trailers dropped off the ends and you can not get a boat out or damage to the trailer breaking the Axle u Bolts

That also means all the boat lanes at the State Park will be High and Dry.

We launched at the Hwy 33 bridge last time...I don't recall the park launch being usable. Not sure about Hwy 2, as I've never launched there. I'm sure someone will chime in that knows better than I do though.

the launch at the park will NOT be functional, but the 33 launch will. there are also a couple more south of 33 that will be open. only downside is if the fish are biting, you will have to get to jake's pretty early to get a parking spot. lol but i truly think i catch more fish during a drawdown. hems them up a lot more!! its gonna be good, especially if we get some cooler weather before the gathering. we still gonna eat like kings!! and tell tall tales--(huh, cajun dave??)

People say, "What if the fish don't bite?" I say, "I don't go to catch fish, I go for the Friday Night and Saturday Night suppers!" LOL!!!
