    Default Okatibbee 8-8

This time last year SteveJ and I were filling the ironing board regularly at Okatibbee. This summer has been tough. A thermocline has set up with the water temps in the upper 80s, mostly in the deeper waters along the dam. The thermocline is from 10 to 12 ft. I made one pass through there yesterday without a bite. I moved up the lake to where the depth was 10 to 12 ft and started seeing a lot more shad. I wound up keeping 23 good eaters, nothing big but all from 11 inch to 13 inch fish. Most were caught on my 4 push poles with the 3oz weights. I was running the crankbaits near the bottom.Name: 20160808_155233.jpg

I need to show that to the Mrs. She needs to find out what ironing boards are used for. Lucky for me she doesn't read CDC.
If we did what was most important in life there would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles

At 82 I'm now just a has been, just glad Scott will let me go along with him. I do feel I know a lot about the lake and can offer a little info from time to time but my guru days are long over.
