I have never fished it. But would like to get up there and try for Walleye at some point. I understand it can be tough for Crappie though.

Like Redboat, I've never fished it for crappie either. All the folks I know go to Buggs Island/Kerr for crappie.
I LIVE NEAR GASTON LAKE,YOU DID NOT SAY WHAT KIND OF FISH,IN THE SUMMER MONTHS EVEN EARLY IN THE DAY THERE ARE MANY PLEASURE BOATS AND JET SKI.I WENT LAST WEEK TO ADJUST MY SI AND DI UNITS ,SAW FISH UNDER DOCKS BUT WANTED TO GET UNIT ADJUSTED AS GOOD AS POSIBLE,HAVE A DI THAT I AM SHOOTING SIDE WAYS,WELL AFTER GOING BY DOCKS ABOUT 15 TIMES I DECIDED TO SHOOT A FEW TIMES TO MAKE SURE THE SIZE I THOUGHT THEY WERE WELL I SHOT 18 TIMES AND CAUGHT 8 NICE FISH,THE LAST 4 WERE 13 TO 14 INCHES ON 4 CAST THEN I SET ROD DOWN AND DID NOT FISH ANYMORE BUT WENT BACK TO UNITS,BOATS GOT SO BAD I COULD NOT GET GOOD PIC FOR ROCKING SO WENT HOME,NOW OPERATION WILL KEEP ME OFF WATER FOR AT LEAST 6 WEEKS,FALL AND WINTER IS GOOD FOR CRAPPIES,NOT MUCH BRUSH IN GASTON,PLACES TO FIND THEM ARE FEW
