    Default What kind of fish is it? Kayak report Flint Creek backwater this morning.


    I went out for a short trip before church this morning. I caught 3 of these and 1 short crappie. What is it? My guess Northern Pike. 1 was about 2' long and the other 2 were about 18". Dropped my Golden Rule in Swan Creek last week and have not replaced it yet so only my best guess. This is the first time I have ever seen one of these. Started off bass fishing and had planned to switch to bream and crappie a 30 or so minutes...spent most of the time bass fishing, plenty of top water hits but I could not get them to the boat. I probably missed 20 fish..on a frog, ghost and fluke.

    probably a grass pickerel...we have them in some of the swamp waters around here.

    Chain Pike, smaller southern version of the northern pike.

    Taste good too, but bony.

    Well this is a new one for me. I caught 3 and played with several more..they seemed to be schooling together.

    Almost looks like what we call scalie cats and it maybe but they usually have round spots on their tails are all bones and usually school together and are in about every creek that holds water year round up this way. They have lots of teeth too.

    The pictures don't show the teeth good but they had teeth about 1/4" long a little bigger than a needle.
