Headed over to Morrison Lake ( Ionia County ) today with my neighbor Jeff. We got on the water about 7:30 and the lake was like glass. Started near the dam and fished red worns under slip bobbers just off the docks on the first drop. Lots of 6 3/4 " gills and a few that made our personal minimum 7 1/2". By 9:30 we had moved to deep water and were marking a lot of fish 10-12 feet down. With the wind being light we drifted our slip bobber/ red worm combo behind the boat 12' down and I also tight lined with a hali tipped with a red worm and another rod with a 1/32 oz jig with a red/ white plastic tail. Multiple drifts produced lots and lots of small gills and 6-8 inch perch. I also picked up about a dozen crappie but only kept 2. By mid afternoon we had enough of the sun and called it a day. We ended with 20 in the box. A lot of the female gill were still full of eggs. These will be some of the fish I fry on Friday night for nearly 60 family members and friends.
