    mighty fine sunfish for sure ...thump jigs well and fight well and taste real good ....just dont ketch lots of them in the large variety
    and or many of them in many spots in these parts ....
    they dont reside in your part of the US best i can tell , but yawl got rock bass and we dont have them down here ...but they are kinda similar fish

    Yup, picture perfect Texas Warmouth.

    In Michigan, they look more like a small stunted cross between a bluegill and a rock bass. They don't get very big here at all, are extremely slimy, more bony, and a lot less meat than a bluegill. Most folks here will kill them when they catch them as they tend to take over an area pretty quickly.

    Warmouth eh. Interesting. We have "rockies" up here (rock bass), which do not look like those fish. Must be a different species from what we have. Beautiful fish regardless!

    Yes sir they are different fish ......managed quite a few rock bass when I was younger up in lake Wallenpawpak I think it was called in Penna. , lived up there for 7 years as a kid

    Yeah, Rock Bass & Warmouth are NOT the same fish, although they do get confused with each other where both are common. They are "cousins", more or less, belonging to the same "family" of Sunfish (Centrarchidae).
