Tried out the new rods and Bandits yesterday on Shelbyville. Apparently I still have a lot to learn. Caught 10 in the 9-10" range in about 5 hours north of coalshaft bridge.
I know I will never be able to do it in rough water, with two guys and gear on the nose of 16' john the front sits pretty low!
congrats on your maiden voyage. hang in there, more will come.
It will just keep getting better

Were you pushing or pulling off the front? If you were pushing you did good very good. Your gonna catch the most pullin off the back or front doesnt matter except off the front you cant turn as sharp. Hang in there it will get better.
Pullin off the front. Yea turns can be a little tuff. Surprisingly the only tangles we had were fish induced. My partner is a spring /fall crappie guy, I think we may be having a problem getting the new summer pattern in our heads. He keeps saying "well I dip them over there" all the time. I Just don't think they are "there" now!
Birdy is right. I always try to fish the drops in the main lake south. Have always done well cranking down there!

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!
