    Default Fishing Fireworks (Santee)

I've never seen more pleasure boaters then what was on the water this weekend. The lake was rocking and rolling from all the boat wakes, but the fish were biting anyways. I capped off Friday's success with fine days on both Saturday alone, and a rare Sunday trip with my brother. Fish were all caught off brush with both jigs and minnows with a single long pole. It was never fast and furious, but action was steady as long as you covered a lot of water and different brush targeting the actively feeding fish. I'm sore this morning from getting beat up from all the bouncing around due to the boat wakes and will welcome a couple week break from fishing as we head up to Hickory Knob State park for a family reunion next weekend. No fishing while there, a little golf and family time is on the agenda. I hope all are enjoying this Independence Day though quite hot.

The lake level is still in good shape, so as long as you idle through the cut getting into the flat won't be a problem. Pay attention to the lake levels, when level gets to 3 feet or so below full pool, certain shallow creek runs become unusable in bigger boats.
