I fish a pond that has several smaller fish that love stealing my bait. They sink the cork and my miss to catch ratio is way off. If I could catch them I would eat them! Suggestions on a setup that would make me increase my odds.

I use a #6 long shank hook.
#12 hook with a Crappie nibble, will clean the pond out. Set hook at first bite.
