Default AS GPS HS heading sensor not recognized

Got a Helix 12 and moved my 898c HDSI up front. I am trying to hook up an AS GPS HS heading sensor but 898 does not see it connected. Could it be firmware? I'm at 6.490.

    just found this...

"This receiver requires software 6.570 or higher in the compatible Humminbird product. " Guess my next question is what firmware level should I upgrade to? I know some levels have a few nuances.

The newest in your HB account is about the best option ...

Some stay at 6.490 simply because it's reported to be the best for that unit ever ... (even tho the AS GPS HS antenna can't be used at that version) ...

I upgraded it and the Helix i just got to the latest firmware. All is well. Thanks. When I get 898 transducer mounted to trolling motor, I will check out SI then. BTW, I was able to share SI off the Helix.

    Very good ...

SI sharing between an 898 SI and HELIX SI is one of the reports that was still "questionable" ...

Back when the networking was "less refined" I never had an issue mixing SI units of xx8 and xx9 vintage, the Helix to xx(8/9-core) inter-operability is very good now.
