Go to Amazon or EBay and search for "Crankbait Bodies" and buy new. You can also go to wlure.com and buy them in bulk. Add split rings and hooks and you have a complete lure for under $2.00 (depending on what size you buy). The bodies can be had for well under a dollar a piece.

The ones I buy come in clear plastic so need a good base coat of white (I use flat white) before you start the top coat.

I paint three colors - silver - black & chartreuse, while a buddy = M R Dux - paints them in colors and patterns that would make Arkie & Bandits jealous.

There are few videos on YouTube that show some techniques and tricks to air brushing crankbaits you might want to watch.

How do those baits run compared to the Arkie and bandits?

They are called C-55s and they run just a little deeper than a bandit 300

"G" was referring to the Wlure model number of painted cranks. They are similar to the Bandit 300's.

    Here is the unpainted version:

    UPC 255

You can see from the chart that even buying as few as 5 the price goes to $1.00 each.
You can add stick on eyes, good split rings and good trebles and STILL end up at less than $2.00 each.

And the 549's , while smaller, have put a bunch of fish in my boat also. The 255's are a bit bigger than a bandit but the fish evidently don't know that, or don't care. Keep checking yard sales and flea markets for the repaints, and keep in mind that painting the bill is acceptable also. Sometimes the bills are off color and don't look good once painted but hitting them with a base and color changes the whole bait. Painting is a ton of fun and very addictive. I feel for you......
