Wish we had seen this before we purchased a boat under their new business name in their new state - North Carolina. Upon further investigation of American Marine Liquidators, we noted several small claims cases in South Carolina in favor of various plaintiffs against the owners under another business name. Thank you to those of you who responded to us with details of your issues with this dealer in the past. Consumers: In summary, we warn you about purchases with the dealer American Marine Liquidators. We wish we had done further diligence on public website reviews and public court records prior to purchasing from Randy or Randolph Salter. American Marine Liquidators does not feel they are responsible and we do not feel they are reputable. Search elsewhere for your boat purchase near Charlotte and Lake Norman North Carolina. I don't understand how people like this can continue to rip people off for years with no real consequences. Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your perspective) I'm too law abiding and trusting. I was raised to believe that most people are good given the chance. Now that I'm older I believe the Bible. People are born in Sin and must be raised up in the way that they should go, else they will grow in their sin. These people are evil.

I know your issue is resolved, which we are truly happy to hear. Let me know if you want details on our situation. Angela and Randy were kind enough to post our names and address out on some websites (refuting our reviews of their company), but that's helped others like you find us in Holly Springs, NC. Plus, it's leading to quite an interesting summary from SC to NC on their business practices. Shawn & Allison Lawrence

They never resolved the issues with my case. I won a judgement against them in SC and it's never been paid. My legal fees quickly approached what they owe and they dodged the law by moving to NC. Anyone who buys from them is just asking to be ripped off. What most people don't understand is you can win in court and still never be paid the judgement.

If you think they are good people just read how many bad things are against them. Good people are consistent. Most people won't bother to post anything.

    buyer beware.

Oh we agree - they do not accept responsibility and they do not have ethics in their business practices. The Salters, in an effort to intimidate or annoy us, chose to publicize our names and address on websites in response to our negative reviews of their NC company American Marine Liquidators. However, that has worked to our advantage because we have spoken with several buyers that won their judgements but were never paid by the Salters or their former company in SC.

You are not alone in winning your judgement, but not being paid. Please feel free to contact us via phone...we are listed in Holly Springs, NC.

You may have already dine this if not its your first step. Take the numbers on the boat,go into the wildlife web for boat registration and renewal and put the numbers in. or go to where ever you reg your boat and they can do the same. You will find out who the boat belonged to and if there is a lien on it. If no lien you can apply for a lost title, that is if the boat was bought used, if new if its like a car or truck it should have a certificate of origin. I'm kind of having the same problem just nothing that serious. You never know, the person who traded the boat may have lied about a boat title buy you know it had to have a trailer title to get a tag. Hope this will help alittle. If not hook your boat up, put all your paperwork in a safe dry place and go fishing and let the state figure it out. If you have bill of sale and such they can check the numbers and see you're telling the truth. Good Luck

I did end up getting the boat registered so I could sell it.
just a reminder that those folks are not ethical / honest and don't deserve any business.
To date they've still not fulfilled their court ordered debt to me. In order to try and collect I'd have to re-file in NC.
