Those 11.75 inchers with the bandit down in the gills. Often they have a gill taker broken out when they come in.
Wish they would let you keep a couple of short fish rather than having to throw them back. I know nothing is wasted in nature and turtles have to eat but still hurts to throw back one that cannot live. Enid.... 40 caught, 6 keepers.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The sheep live in fear of the wolf but in the end it's the shepherd that eats them.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang and
a gun the goes bang when it is supposed to go click.

Yeah seems to be pretty uncommon for me to get one in with a torn raker. I think out of the 60 or so shorts I've caught recently only one has had this issue. If it is gill hooked and not torn I pull the hooks out from the bottom side very carefully as not to do any more damage. And does one torn gill raker mean the fish will definitely perish?
Thought the same thing, if a fish looks to be in bad shape should be allowed to keep it rather then throw it to the turtles. To bad we can't have a honor system, but people would just be ripping up gills in order to keep short fish if I had to guess![]()

The COE is in charge of flood control not fish management till a tourney. Then they are in the fish management business!

Yeah I agree. Its hard enough to throw back a 11 7/8" crappie especially if you know its gonna die, but like you said nature will make short work of them. I trolled by 2 or 3 dead floaters friday

Dont matter how you fish..some will be hooked too deep and die..
Those dead fish are not a waste. They are fertilizer and food for small creatures when they decompose. Circle of life.
