    Default Best Guess

Started getting some weird readings on my HB 898c hd si. Depth reading will go crazy even in deep water. Sometimes it will continually flash the sane depth for several minutes, Standard sonar will be fine and then lose all detail, pretty much turning white, with some light green streaks. SI and Down image not affected. Is it the depth finder or the transducer? I don't know anyone with an 898 I can borrow. Best guess?

998 or 1198 will also work.

Maybe you need to get the ferrite loop from HB and put on your power cord to prevent interferrance from TM. My understanding is they will send you one for free if your having problems....call HB customer service and talk to them.

I got the whole works from HB right after I got the unit. Installed it all plus a ground wire. (originally everything would fuzz out) That fixed the it the first time.

Do you have you fish finder connected to your cranking battery ? Also on TM....is it wired directly to its own battery ?

Fish Finder is on cranking battery. Trolling motor is wired to trolling batteries.

Today I drilled a hole in the trolling motor skeg and screwed my ground wire down there. I originally had it attached under the metal band that holds the transducer on the trolling motor. I will get it on the water Thursday.
