    Default Gills on the Beds

Bank fished on the Nolichukey back waters for about 2 hours this evening. Caught 22 with 6-7 keepers. Biggest was 8".

Started with the heavily salted shrimp I had read about on here. The 8" was caught on the shrimp, but it was mostly slow using the shrimp. Didn't have crickets on hand. Switched to crawlers and the bite was much better.

Saw lots of monster gills chasing away smaller gills in about 2 FOW. Could not get them to hit. I was just pitching the entire time. No room for casting or cranking anything.

Hit the same spot today at 3pm. Fished until 6:30pm.

Went to Wal-Mart first for crickets and they only had one cup. I'm seriously doubting the supposed 50 crickets in these cups. Anyway, noticed a guy grab a cup of Wax Worms, which I've never used. I recalled these being mentioned here before. I grabbed two cups of the Wax Worms just in case. Started out with crickets for the first 20 minutes, then didn't touch them again after switching to the wax worms. I was really surprised by these wax worms. It was more about quantity than quality, but I caught 55 gills and one 7.5" cracker.

The big males were still there chasing away the little guys, but they wouldn't hit anything. Every time I saw one, I would pitch well beyond him and slowly bring it back to him and they showed no interest at all.

Not sure why the bulls are acting this way.

Hit the spot again today from 6:45pm-8:15pm.

Caught 37 with 22 keepers in the 7" range. The keepers finally got hungry! Had a few crickets, but mostly used wax worms. Biggest catch was a Cracker measuring 8.25".

Tried again today. Caught 61, with maybe 6 keepers.

    Ugly day.
