Default Looking for Green Tomato Pickle Recipe

Do any of y'all have a favorite recipe for pickled green tomatoes? Our tomato vines are loaded now and I'm ready to get to work canning.

Never even heard of pickling green tomatoes. Heard of fried green tomatoes. Sorry couldn't help you out more. Could you use the same recipe for pickling pickles for the tomatoes? Just a thought.

Shadow, I'll bet you've eaten these with fried fish and maybe thought of it as a relish. It's commonly served at catfish restaurants. Small green tomatoes are quartered or diced in a sweet and spicy vinegar brine. The commercial brand I like best is Cajun Chef Green Tomato Pickles.

It seems like the pickling spices used for bread and butter pickles, with a little extra pepper kick, would get pretty close.

YUM! Bring me a jar at the next Toledo Bend gathering, I'll trade you for what I have, which is plenty.

I'll bring some, but they may not be from this batch. This is my first try so the recipe will probably need to be adjusted. About to start filling the jars in about 10 minutes.

Mr. George, call me when you get the recipe perfected. Unlike Dwayne, I love those pickled green tomatoes when I eat fish. Dorcheat Seafood, in Dixie Inn has some good ones, except they need to be kicked up a notch or two with some red pepper.

Pastor, I don't know about "perfected" but judging by folks reaction at last night's fish fry the recipe I tried first must be pretty good! We had fourteen adults and seventeen kids over for a crappie cookin'. Four pints of the pickled tomatoes were consumed and four couples wanted jars to take home with them.

That sounds like a "HIT" to me. By the way, when did you catch enough crappie to feed 31 people? Did you get the seine out? LOL. Oh yea, put my name in the hat too for one of those jars of pickled green tomatoes.
