Default Watts Bar tailwater report 6/01/2016

I took a fishing machine, aka Cuonthelake, aka Candi, to do some dam fishing this AM. Notice that the N is missing from dam, so I wasn't swearing or cussing or anything like that. Grin. I maintained my title of Drumking and she caught nearly all the game fish. I was okay with that. I am a good net man.

I caught 2 white bass, 1 skipjack herring and 3 Drum. Candi landed 3 Stripers, 1 white bass, 1 Drum, and 1 skipjack. She also had two big fish break her 15 lb test braided line after a short fight. Sometimes it just happens in spite of all precautions.

Water temp up there is 68.9 degrees and the artificial bite has slowed to a snail's pace. I don't do live bait for gamefish. It just isn't in my genes. One other boat with two guys were catching stripers, but they were using live minnows. That's is cheating isn't it. LOL

Two turbines running, numbers 3 and 5 so we didn't get too crowded at all this am. I'm not sure that I will make it back up there again until the fall when the water cools off again. I'm ready for crappie mania. I have included pics of our friend, Chris James who met us in Decatur after we finished fishing with a load of bamboo for crappie hotels that I will be making soon. Also a pic of the two cooling towers at WB and it looks like the #2 unit may be cooling water. I didn't think it was supposed to start up until the fall. Anyone know what is going on there?

    Way to go, Candi

(and thanks DrumKing, for not using a N in the word dam ... you don't know how many times I've had to correct the spelling of that word )

You two have really had some nice catches up there this year.

    From the TVA website

SPRING CITY, Tenn. – Licensed reactor operators at Tennessee Valley Authority’s Watts Bar Unit 2 project reached a major milestone at 2:16 a.m. EDT, Monday, May 23, 2016, when the unit’s reactor achieved its first sustained nuclear fission reaction.

Also known as achieving “initial criticality,” Unit 2 is now generating heat under its own power and will soon be producing safe, carbon-free electricity as the nation’s first new nuclear unit in the 21st century.

Good report, except for that next to last picture. Oh my eyes, oh my eyes.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
