Default Terrible Florida Spring fishing on Griffin, but we seem to be catching a few now...

Only out like an hour nad a half, and we had fun catchin' fish, again. 2 short trips in a row. Griffin is on fire!

We pulled Off Shore Tackle Planer boards and caught this dandy Gar (see below) on a rope bait. I thought I'd try this earlier because I thought the fishing would be slow, and catching anything is better than catching nothing. And these suckers are lots of fun, they put up a heck of a fight.

We caught Bass, on a new sponsors baits, the micro crankbait guy, Baitzilla: Welcome to Baitzilla - Low Cost Quality Baits I kinda like these baits because the short strike fish on Griffin seem to take that back hook a little better with the "fly" dressing on the rear treble hook.

And then low and behold, while I had CrappieGirl1 on the phone we caught this one. CG1 can vouch for me having to hang up on her to net this one for my daughter. lol

Hey now, that is work! Someone has to do it. I wrote a story, I get to write off the minners I bought. Isn't that how it works! lol

And no minners killed in this story anyway. Caught the Gar with rope bait, caught the Crappie with Arkies, and Baitzilla crank baits.

How deep were you trolling there Maestro? Just kinda wondering as my efforts pulling cranks have been mostly unrewarded. And I got couple to choose from. Good looking fish from a good trip. You da man.
Minnow man don't like me either.

Pretty shallow runners, maybe 4 ft deep max. In about 6-7 ft of water. You can use the small Arkies too, or the new sponsor Baitzilla. But don't forget. Me doing this means nothing. I only went out for short period, twice and caught four crappie. "I got a pattern" don't quite apply!

Now I see why you moved the daughter to Florida so she can teach you how to catch fish.

You have a sort of a pattern started, better than I did. I dragged them around back in the fall and early winter and had great results one trip and zip the next. I have to try some shallow runners next time out. I was also in the river which has a rhythm all it's own. Soon.......
