Not uncommon at all, catch two or three every time I'm casting or vertical jigging it seems.

Learn something new everyday! Thought it was a fluke (yeah I know, it was a catfish.) Bet it would have fried up nice.

The best day we've had with cats on jigs was 13 on the Snake River. I think they cruise the shoreline eating crappie spawn.

I have only caught two catfish in my life, and both of them were on jig and soft plastic combos while smallmouth bass fishing.Name: 206814_1028030173676_4244_n.jpg

It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

I catch them frequently when I use crappie nibbles in conjunction with my jigs. Amazon.com: crappie nibbles: Sports & Outdoors

I sometimes want to call them everything nibbles, lol. Bass, Perch and Bluegill love them as well.

    Thanks for sharing.

Amazing how many crossover baits exist - baits that catch many fish species. My brother-in-law used to frustrate his brother using weird baits in a tournament and outfish his brother using only standard bass baits (larger crankbaits, spinnerbaits, plastic worms, etc.). Guess fish don't read fishing magazines...

I catch quite a few cats on tube jigs . My dad has the largest I ever heard of , a 20 lb blue cat out of Toledo Bend on a jig pole. He said it took 30 minutes to land it.
