Thread: How Long does battery last in hand held on co pilot?

Don't think that was your problem. That usually happens when it looses it's GPS signal. Mine is 4 years old and still going. Carry a spare.

I have only changed mine one time in six years.....I carry a spare also. I agree with cray you temp lost your satelite signal for gps

Anyway to avoid this from happening again? Or should I contact min Kota about this?

Not really....can be caused by sun spots or cloud cover.....Mine has only done it one time in six years.

Mine did it 3 times this morning over a 400 yd. run trolling bandits in the middle of a 1700 acre lake. Bright sunny morning and I have run the same line a dozen times in the last 3 weeks. Trolling motor wanted to completely go round and would have snapped the wiring if I hadn,t quickly unplugged it. All happened in 15 minutes. When I swapped hand controls, never happened again over next 4 hrs. Really screwed up mess for about 20 minutes. I had fishing lines and bandits rapped around trolling motor and the big motor prop at the same time. LoL. Had to unplug the motor 3 times as had absolutely no way to control it from the hand held control.

Change the battery to be sure. I've seen all kinds of brand new batteries bad fresh off the shelf.

My guess is a stuck contact inside the remote. As far as I know that remote only sends a signal to the board and yours kept sending a signal. It could be a corroded contact inside the board of the TM but then the other remote should not have fixed the problem.

I have v2 co pilot remote and a spare remote. They are both 7 years old and still work. Not used much though.

My Ipilot remote was 5 years old when I sold my War Eagle. I keep spare batteries in my black Crown Royal bag that I carry the remotes in. Billbob gave me the bag, so it is a special bag to tote stuff in.
