I've been fishing Greers pretty hard for the last 3 years. I agree with Mr. Jackie that the water lice are very active already; more so than in years past it would seem.

I fish cranks a lot there and find that while you can have productive trips early, later summer is when I find the reward of catching a mess of fish is more regularly outweighed by the risk of losing a mess of bandits. I haven't found enough crank bait activity to warrant the risk yet this year.

When yesterday and today for about two hours both days. Yesterday caught three crappie and one eye ,one of the crappie wasn't much bigger #7 flicker shad he hit the other two were good 12" crappie. Today caught one five pound blue cat one 11" crappie and five hybrids. Think it still a Little early fish are scattered all threw the water column. The eye i caught yesterday was while I was Letting out line and reel hung at 37 ' when I reached for it to pull the line he hit it and I was in about 50' of water. The crappie I caught both day were down 12 to 15'.

Wife and I are headed to Greers Ferry for the first visit in a couple of weeks.
Primarily to fly fish the little red (anybody have tips?) and to get up on the main lake for crappie and possibly some hybrids. Where are some good locations to look? From what I read in this thread about losing bandits, am I to assume there is a lot of standing timber under the surface or rocks?

Lots of standing timber and large rock bottoms & don't ever drop an anchor if you want to keep it. Black or Green Wooly Bugger, pink egg pattern. the catch and release area drain pipes at JFK PARK IS GREAT FISHING. Be well worth your money to Hire Creekslick as a guide if you want to see how to fish the lake.

Yeah donate three anchor to that lake my self. Bad thing about it knew them rocks were there and did it anyway. But twice was on the fourth and it was time to leave now. If you been at sandy beach after fire works you know what I'm talking about.
