Default Kayak Trip Report, I-65 Slough

I fished the slough under I-65 on the North side of the Tennessee River with alexava this morning. The trip was a bust, no Crappie to report. Not sure if the fish wouldn't take a bait or if there has been a fish die off since my last trip a couple years ago. alexava did catch a couple small Crappie.

I have been looking at that area myself, where do you put in at? I have paddled a good ways back up in the ditch in the back of White Springs that heads toward I65 but not far enough. Looks like one of those areas nobody fishes much.

Follow the road past Arrowhead Landing on Limestone Bay until it dead ends at the bar gate under I-65. Then I use a cart to carry my kayak the half mile down the road to the slough,

Ditch have you ever tried up Mitchell Road beside the old closed Chevron on Hwy 72 just past Mooresville. This looks like it might give access to the other side of White Springs and maybe the water going under I65. I plan to ride out and look it over in the next few days.

I agree, the water is part of Wheeler NWR, but the information I have is the farm fields and Mitchell Road are private property. I haven't found anyone working the field around there to ask permission yet.
