Crappie can be good but very hot in the open water. Bluegill and Shellcrackers will be excellent.

Was wondering what the crappie fishing is like the first week of June on Talquin. We will be down there and was thinking about bringing the boat and fishing somewhere.

Heading down Monday for my last trip until late fall. Normally you can find them on the flats this time of the year since spawn is over. However, their usually stressed from spawning and what we call "potato" chips once U fillet them. But it's fun and U will catch some nice ones. It will be "HOT." I'm normally back at the camper by 9 or 10 and go out late in the afternoon for about an hour or two.
Thanks for the replies. We still haven't made up our minds on what we will do.

Some of the best fishing I have seen has been in late May to early June at Talquin, but like it has already be mentioned, it will be hot!!!! Good Luck.
The only time I ever went to Talquin in the Summer was the best Spec bite I have ever had down there. Went after Crackers and come away with a limit of Specs. I don't know why I never tried that again.
Don't listen to TnT .....
