    Default Lake Arthur Crappie

Had a nice trip to Lake Arthur today. Spent 5 hours on the water, 11AM to 4PM, on the western end of the lake back in the coves around the cottages. got a lot but they were all small around 8", all went back in. All on jigs with crappie assassins, 1/32oz, chartreuse and chartreuse/pink. The water was very colored. In 7 to 10', in the trees. Not in front, not on the side, right down through the limbs, about 2' off the bottom. Lost a lot of jigs, if you tried to cast at all you got hung up. Had to fish straight down. Had the wrong rod, was using my 6" ultra light, should have had my 12' crappie rod and just reached into the holes between branches. But all in all it was great day to be out on the water. Calm most of the day but the wind came up a little in the afternoon and hard to keep position among the fall downs. Water temps were about 62 to 64. Maybe with this full moon something may start to happen!!!

Good day. I always keep at least one telescopic 10 ft jig pole on board. Never know when it will come in handy.
