Sorry. Never mind about the boat ride. I just looked at google earth. Its only a frogs hop down there. I was thinking it was further.

We are going to be coming down to the Paris Landing area the 25th of May. Fishing for 4-5 days. Will it be too late for the red ear and gills? Crappies I'm sure are about done.
Was thinking about taking boat ride from Paris Landing down to the west Sandy area. Anyone have a ball park time for that ride @ 30-40 MPH. Is it a fairly easy run to there? Im hoping to get in some fishing Thurs & Friday before all the weekend warriors & idiots get out there.
Crappie spawning and morels popping up at the same time. What was God thinking when he made that schedule. It's pure torture every spring deciding which to do.

I've caught bedding gills in June on KY Lake. Might be past the peak, but I bet if you hunt around you will be able to find some.
When you say "done" I'm guessing you're talking about the spawn? Cause you can still catch crappie. We'll be there this weekend pulling cranks.

Yes, I fish like a girl. If you tried a little harder, you could too!!Billbob LIKED above post
i hear reports ppl still catching some good crappie and even a few up fairly shallow. as far as gills/redear im gonna guess they are about to peak out. almost a full moon towards the end of May is usually prime time

Yes I meant the crappie spawn is about over. I will be fishing for crappie, and pretty sure I will find a few. But if they prove to be too finicky I love a hot skillet full of bluegill fillets. Or catfish, or white bass, yellow bass, red ear. Well pretty much anything is good cooked in hot grease.
What can anyone tell me about the Cypress bay area. If you were going to fish either West Sandy or Cypress Bay which would be your first choice. I have never been down to this area before. We have always fished up in the north part of KY lake.

we always stay at cypress bay bc thats where some ppl let us use their cabin. honestly we usually just drive down to big sandy and fish, there's just so much more fishable area off of the main lake. the few times we have fished cypress bay its always been just kinda goofing off in the afternoon usually after cleaning fish. we pretty much just enjoy a beverage and pulled cranks around the bay. never caught many but everyone weve caught has been big. never have fished it for gills but there are some spots ive always thought looked good way in the back. may try some of the bays across the lake from cypress as well. panther bay and a few others over there are pretty big but if im chasing crappie u will find me on big sandy

I was on Barkley today and many of the bays had 66-67 degree water. Had 3 clients who all caught their largest redears. Big fish was 2 pound female who was not spawned out. I have zero idea what is going on with the bull gills. They are not nesting in the cooler water yet. I hope everybody keeps thinking they are spawned out.

I'm hoping with the 80+ temps in the forecast that the fishing will be red hot by Thursday next week. But if it's not, it still beats the h**ll out of working. Now my decision I got to make in the next couple hours is do I stay at Cypress Bay Resort or Fish Tails motel.
